In light of the activity at Volcano Puyehue, 100km NW of Bariloche, we are posting this page to offer information, advice and recommendations to those visiting Bariloche. |

VOLCANO SITUATION - The volcano is now stable and is spewing only a very fine ash to just 2000m. We are 100km from Puyehue and in no danger what so ever. There have been no earthquakes in Bariloche, nor in the entire Rio Negro province. Our only disruption was caused by the initial ash fall from June 4th, over 8 months ago. |

ASH SITUATION - During the initial night of the Puyehue eruption, on June 4th, 3 cm of ash, the consistency of sand, fell on Bariloche due to wind direction. This in general has made things more dusty and dirty than usual but the town has undergone a huge clean up operation. If it is raining/snowing or no or light wind we have no ash in the air. If it has been dry for a day or 2 and we have strong winds a very fine dust is blown from the ground back into the air.
